How to do Crafts Altered Storage Cabinet

I found this wooden cabinet at a yard sale.  It was a dark wood.  I wanted something to match my room so I painted it with cream, winter white, and pink.  Then I decorated it with matching embellishments.

I found this cabinet at a yard sale.

I painted this winter white, cream, and pink to match my room.

I used pink rosettes and white seam binding to decorate the outside of the cabinet.

The inside of the cabinet, I added scrapbook paper to the shelves from DCWV's Spring Fling collection.

To prevent little spiders from crawling in, I covered the back of the heart openings with  square pieces of cardboard covered with scrapbook paper.

I distressed the edges with mint green and vintage photo distress ink by Tim Holtz.

I added wooden flowers to the side of the the cabinet to embellish the side.

I used the same pink rosettes on the side of the cabinet.

Now my little cabinet matches my room perfectly.

I used scrap paper that I got from a friend.  It is called "My Favorite Things" put out by Recollections.

The back of the card is a large bicycle like the front of the card.

I used some pink and blue paper roses along with a baby blue rosette in the middle.

How to Make Envelope

Do you need a button & string envelope?  There is a way you can do your own by making an envelope out of paper.  You can use this arts and crafts method for how to make mini envelopes, homemade envelopes, and envelopes for cards.

You can also use this for CD envelopes - just increase the size to 5 x 5 instead of 4 x 4 and it will fit a CD.  This is also great for wedding invitations or baby showers.  You can save a lot of money by making an envelope out of sheet paper, scrapbook paper, or card stock paper.

Template Supplies

1 piece of Card stock paper 4 x 4
1 piece of Card stock paper 3 3/4 x 3/4
1 rectangle in Card stock paper 3 x 4

Button & String Envelope Supplies - Full List

2 pieces of scrapbook paper 4 x 4 inches each
1 piece of scrapbook paper 3 x 4  to be used for the flap (cut and score this piece as stated in the video)
3 pieces of 3 3/4 x 3/4 inch scrapbook or card stock paper.  Fold each of these pieces in half
2 large circles of scrapbook paper
2 small circles of scrapbook paper
(Remember the little circle must fit into bigger circle)
1 piece of Kite string 10 inches
Turbo Tacky Glue
2 eyelets
An eyelet punch
Tape Glider

Here are the two button & string envelopes I made.  I used BoBunny's Country Garden Collection paper for the handmade envelope.

This is the back of the mini envelope.

Here is the front side of the small envelope.  I cut out a half circle notch at the top to make it easier to grasp the tag or card that I will put inside of the button & string envelope

This is another picture of the back.  Here the flap is lifted up and the string that secures the small envelope is hanging down.  I think I will make a few of them and stash them among my other card making supplies.

Save money and make your own button and string envelopes.  Also make handmade cards or tags to store inside.  Makes the perfect gift and can also be used for wedding invitations and CD envelopes.

Card Ideas to Make Fancy Paper Bag Cards

I wanted to share this with you today.  You can make your own fancy paper bag cards.  This is one of the least expensive card making ideas.  I purchased a bag of 50 paper bags for $1.83.  That works out to 4 cent per bag.  Then add on your scrapbook paper and embellishments and you can make this for under $2.00.  That's cheaper than a store brought card!  Plus you can personalize it and custom make it for that special person.

This is one of my favorite card creations because I just love paper bags.  This can be used for all kinds of paper crafting ideas.  You can also make your own birthday card and make your own thank you cards.  This would be a great idea for a sympathy and a get well card as well.  You can also add tags or letters and store them in the open end of the paper bag.  If you are looking for card ideas to make, consider the paper bag.  It's cheap, practical, and very versatile as well. Since I am making this for someone, I also made a matching set because I made a pink lace doll to match the bag.

Supplies List

Paper bag  12 3/8  x  6 1/8  x  4
Turbo Tacky glue

How to Make Lace Dolls

I decided to dress up my paper doll template by wrapping it up with lace. This helps to give me more variety in the types of things I can use for my dolls.

I make a lace doll by wrapping lace around a paper doll.  Then I added blue embellishments.

This is my sign that I made to put on my office door when I am busy or working on something.
